The desert within.

As a society, humans have developed many ways to connect with each other, and yet communication is getting harder.

It has become normal for our minds to tune out the noise of hyper-connected reality and just center on ourselves. Sometimes so much that we don’t actually pay attention to what others have to say.

Most of us probably wish we could wind down, be less judgemental and more open.

In order to do so, we would first need to empty ourselves of the inner chatter and let our current beliefs become more flexible. This is a state of inner peace that can be cultivated.

According to several traditions, this practice is associated with the idea of retreating to the desert: a place of quietness, emptiness and even sacrifice (Etymologically, this word means “making something sacred”).

The good news is you don’t have to move. The desert can be a time of the day or a room at home. It has better chances of working if you commit to leave all distractions out and fulfill the practice with intention.

As always, don’t take this advice as “The Truth”. It’s just another possible starting point for your path to wellness.

So if it resonates with you, be on your way,

The desert awaits.
